Supervision and Private Practice Consultation
About Me as a SupervisorHelping clinicians build skill and confidence in the beginning stages of their counseling careers is something that I believe is of great importance and thoroughly enjoy doing. Due to the length of time the supervisory relationship typically lasts, it is truly important to find a good fit between licensure candidate and supervisor, including knowing the supervisors education, specialties, theoretical background and orientation (s), and maybe most importantly personality and style. I provide supervision in a laid back manner, using the licensure candidate’s strengths to improve practice, teach techniques, do case reviews, and grow as a counselor in the field. Please contact me directly to get a sense of who I am and if I will be a good fit for you and your journey towards licensure.
Individual SupervisionI provide supervision for clinicians working towards their LPC in the state of Colorado. We will do case reviews, focus on fine tuning counseling techniques to match your theoretical orientation(s), improve your professional identity, develop plans to manage administrative tasks, and identify issues as they come up around self as therapist and self-care. I will use examples from my own practice and experience to illustrate topics discussed (of course with the clients’ confidentiality in mind). In a supervisory relationship, you are practicing under my license, which holds a huge responsibility. Therefore, to ensure best practice for your clients, I will have information about your clients and they will have my contact information as well. Understanding that obtaining licensure can be a long and expensive process and one required for licensure in the state of Colorado, I want to help relieve some of the financial pressure and charge the same as my typical session rate. My fee for supervision is $100/60 minute session.
My Role as a SupervisorI will provide group supervision (you may count up to 30 hours towards licensure) on a limited basis. It is up to you to find one or two other licensure candidates that you are comfortable, are committed to attending an agreed upon number of sessions, and would all be a good fit in working with me. Group supervision will be held for an hour and a half and will cost $150/session to be split between the participating candidates. This allows for lower cost for these supervision hours. You are required to also have an individual supervisor during this process. If it is not me, then I ask to have basic contact information of your individual supervisor and will ask you to sign a release of information to discuss any concerns.
Private Practice ConsultationDuring my journey in starting and maintaining a thriving private practice, I realized that the business side of therapy is as important as the clinical skills needed to work with clients. Most therapists put all of their time, energy and money to develop their clinical skills and do not think much about the business side of their practices. While there are some tips and things that are intrinsic to all successful small businesses, there are some things that can be done in a myriad of ways. My belief is that if we can find a business plan that matches your authentic self, your business will be successful. I truly enjoy helping other therapists build the private practices they are excited about and that are authentic and successful. If you feel like you need more direction in starting your private practice please do not hesitate to contact me for more information.
